Serbia’s Digital Boom: IT Service Exports Hit €2.21bn in Just Six Months

A 14% year-on-year surge cements Serbia’s growing clout as a regional tech hub

Serbia’s IT sector is on a sharp upward trajectory, with exports of information and communication technology (ICT) services reaching €2.21 billion in the first half of 2025—a 14% rise compared to the same period last year, according to the Office for IT and eGovernment.

June alone saw €381 million in exports, up 17% from June 2024, marking a significant monthly spike.

The sector also delivered a robust trade surplus of €1.75 billion over six months.

“This growth clearly confirms Serbia’s strengthening position as one of the leading regional centres in ICT,” said Mihailo Jovanović, head of the government’s IT office.

Once seen as an emerging player, Serbia is now carving out a reputation as a tech powerhouse in the Balkans, with a digitally savvy workforce and expanding international partnerships fuelling its rise.
