Montenegro Advances Green Energy with Hyundai and UGTR Renewables

With significant investments ahead, Montenegro is positioning itself as a clean energy leader, aligning with global decarbonisation and energy security objectives

In a landmark step towards a sustainable future, representatives from Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG), Hyundai, and UGTR Renewables met this week to strengthen their ongoing partnership.

Following a 2022 agreement, the discussions focused on optimising available resources to enhance energy stability and drive Montenegro’s decarbonisation efforts.

The talks, attended by top EPCG officials and government ministers, explored key initiatives such as solar and wind energy projects, upgrades to the power grid, and the development of new energy storage solutions.

Milutin Đukanović, EPCG’s Chairman, emphasised the country’s growing appeal for clean energy investments.

One of the highlights was EPCG’s announcement of a 2x30MWh battery storage project, part of its broader strategy to secure Montenegro’s energy future.

Hyundai and UGTR Renewables pledged to accelerate these initiatives, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and global best practices to ensure the country’s energy independence and sustainability.
