Luka Koper, Slovenia’s only commercial port operator, has reported a 7% increase in net profit for 2024, reaching €60 million.
This growth is largely attributed to a 6% rise in sales revenue, which hit €330 million.
The port saw a 3% increase in overall cargo transshipment, with container throughput reaching a record high of 1.13 million TEU, a 6% increase.
The passenger terminal also achieved a historic milestone, welcoming 125,276 travelers.
However, despite the record achievements, there was a slight decline in the handling of bulk and dry cargo.
Car shipments also dropped by 3% to 884,666 units, driven by lower sales in key markets. Operational costs rose by 13%, reflecting increased staffing and inflation-adjusted wages.
Luka Koper employed 2,255 people by the end of 2024, a 33-person increase compared to the previous year, although the number of agency workers declined.
