Europe’s Most Affordable Electric Car Lands in Croatia

Stylish, practical and remarkably affordable — China’s BYD Dolphin Surf could redefine urban mobility across Europe

The electric car revolution just found its new poster child — and it’s wearing lime green.

The BYD Dolphin Surf, freshly launched in Croatia alongside other European markets, sets a new benchmark as the most affordable battery-electric vehicle (BEV) on the market, with prices starting at just €19,490.

Compact yet spacious, this 399 cm long, city-savvy hatchback blends agility with comfort, and thanks to BYD’s innovative Blade battery — available in 30 or 43.2 kWh — delivers up to 322 km of range (or 507 km in urban driving).

The top-tier Comfort model adds premium touches like heated seats, 360° cameras, and wireless phone charging.

Performance spans from a zippy 89 hp base to a 157 hp variant hitting 100 km/h in just 9.1 seconds. Charging? Just 30 minutes to 80% via DC, or a few relaxed hours with its 11 kW AC charger.

With its distinctive design, rich tech specs, family-friendly safety features, and game-changing pricing — especially with government incentives — the Dolphin Surf doesn’t just arrive in Europe. It makes a statement.
