Croatia’s Next-Gen Thermal Attraction: Wellovar Complex Rises in Bjelovar

A fully self-sustaining geothermal sports and recreation park promises year-round wellness, leisure and sport facilities when it opens next summer.

Construction of the Wellovar geothermal sports and recreation park in Bjelovar is rapidly taking shape, positioning it to become one of Croatia’s most advanced thermal pool complexes. Designed with innovation and sustainability at its core, the project will operate entirely on renewable energy generated on-site, setting a new benchmark for environmentally responsible development in the region.

Once finished, the complex will span roughly 3,600 square metres of water surface across seven pools, including an Olympic-sized facility, with both indoor and outdoor options for sport, leisure and wellness throughout the year. The indoor pools are already complete, and work on the outdoor areas and technical systems continues ahead of the scheduled opening.

Local officials highlight the scale and ambition of Wellovar, noting specialised features such as extensive ceramic tiling and a large workforce dedicated to bringing the project to life. With construction set to intensify in early January, the park is expected to welcome visitors in summer 2026.
