This Aranđelovac-based giant welcomed the construction sector’s expansion in a state of readiness, with new automated plants and capacities capable of responding to the demands of a rapidly expanding market. This has enabled the company to satisfy growing demand and become a regional leader in its industry. Here Bekament’s Bojan Švonja, Sales Director for Serbia and export markets at Bekament, reveals how this has been achieved and the company’s ambitious plans.
Bekament sales wide range of products to end users. On how many markets are you present? Do you export to the EU and how are you rated across the region?
― Apart from the domestic market, Bekament also supplies another 17 markets, 11 of which are on the territory of the EU.
We have spent many years strategically developing markets in the region, with the help of distributors and our teams of diligent people who monitor the needs of consumers on a daily basis. Operating on a large number of markets that are specific in terms of their demands, competition and pricing policies, requires expertise, varying approaches and detailed analysis of each individual market. We take a professional and serious approach in all of this, striving to be a leader in Southeast Europe, and we believe that we already are a leader in the region and that this is recognised by others.
Do you manage to satisfy the growing demand for your products?
― The last decade has been marked by the significant development of the construction industry, which has experienced genuine expansion over the previous few years. Bekament entered this period in a state of readiness, with new automated plants and capacities capable of responding to the demands of a rapidly growing market.

This has all enabled us to satisfy the growing demand and become a regional leader in our industry, and through this we’ve achieved revenue growth exceeding 100% for the last three years, while additionally establishing a presence on several new EU markets.
Company Bekament is characterised by the fact that it pays special attention to the complete production process, investing in development, people and the community. Why is that so important to you?
― Having a fully rounded-off process, from our quarry to the final product, provides us with the possibility of strictly controlling the quality and having a sense of certainty in the products that we offer. In this regard, we are proud of our development laboratory, where we satisfy high criteria in terms of quality, as evidenced by the numerous certificates that we possess. We are certainly ready for new challenges and have already created a base that provides us with the basis to believe in that eventuality.
Our factory for powder materials and liquid products has an annual production capacity of 350,000 tons, while our polystyrene plant is able to produce 500,000m3 at the annual level. Bekament has further fortified its leadership position in the region with the opening of a new factory for the production of extruded polystyrene that has a capacity of 250,000m3.
