Nika Prevc Sweeps Home World Cup In Ljubno

Slovenian star celebrates double victory as pay gap debate resurfaces

Nika Prevc delighted a record crowd of 17,000 fans in Ljubno ob Savinji by winning both competitions at the women’s Ski Jumping World Cup on home soil. The Slovenian topped the podium on both days ahead of Austria’s Lisa Eder and Germany’s Katharina Schmid, delivering a dominant win on Saturday and a narrow one-point victory on Sunday despite difficult wind conditions.

The double marked Prevc’s 31st World Cup win, moving her to second place on the all-time list and further extending her lead in the overall standings.

Already a two-time world champion and back-to-back Crystal Globe winner, she now heads into the remaining events before the Winter Olympics with a commanding advantage.

The event also reignited debate over gender inequality in ski jumping. Despite attracting the largest crowds on the women’s circuit, prize money remains sharply lower than in men’s competitions, with women earning only a fraction of the rewards, highlighting the continued undervaluation of female athletes’ achievements.
