McDonald’s Serbia Awarded for Responsibility and Innovation

From hiring young people with intellectual disabilities to replacing plastic with paper—McDonald’s Serbia is quietly leading a quiet revolution

In a remarkable recognition of two decades of inclusive action, McDonald’s Serbia has been awarded the prestigious Đorđe Vajfert National Award for Corporate Social Responsibility.

The accolade, granted by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, celebrates the company’s long-standing partnership with the Creative Educational Centre, which has enabled over 250 young people with intellectual disabilities to find purposeful employment and integration.

But McDonald’s Serbia isn’t just flipping burgers—it’s flipping the script on corporate responsibility.

Under the platform “Small Steps to Big Changes,” the company has embraced a greener future: swapping plastic cutlery for wooden, ice cream cups for cardboard, and rethinking its entire energy and recycling systems.

Volunteers have planted trees, revitalised school gardens, and donated to local communities—one initiative at a time.

With a vision that spans environmental and social impact, McDonald’s Serbia is proving that even the world’s most recognisable brand can lead local change with heart.
