SEE Ministers Advance Agricultural Cooperation at Jahorina Meeting

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, along with the Permanent Working Group for Regional Rural Development (SWG), has successfully hosted the annual meeting of Southeast European ministers in Jahorina. The focus of the summit was on enhancing agricultural and rural development cooperation to expedite the EU integration process.

In a significant handover, the chairmanship of the Permanent Group’s Assembly for 2024 was passed to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina from Montenegro’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management.

The meeting saw a robust attendance from ministries and delegates across the region, including Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Moldova, Bulgaria, Croatia, and beyond to Germany, Hungary, Slovenia, Georgia, the Czech Republic, and France. Representatives from the European Commission and international bodies also partook in the discourse.

Deliberations centered on strategic approaches to regional agricultural issues, fostering collective efforts to align more closely with European Union standards. The gathering was a pivotal step towards synchronizing agricultural policies and rural development strategies across Southeast Europe, reinforcing the region’s commitment to a unified progression towards EU integration.
