The city of Zagreb has launched a new initiative called Safer Night‑Time Environments in the City of Zagreb, aimed at making night-time events safer and healthier — particularly for children, young people and families — as part of the national Month of Addiction Awareness.
Under the pilot programme, club staff will receive specialised training to recognise and respond to cases of intoxication, while “safe-chill zones” will offer support for young people.
Visual campaigns promoting responsible behaviour will appear across nightlife areas. To combat risks of sexual violence, the plan includes better public lighting, awareness campaigns, and stronger cooperation among police, inspection services and the hospitality sector.
With these measures, Zagreb aims not only to curb substance-related harm during night outings, but also to enhance overall public safety and wellbeing — reflecting a long-term commitment to healthier urban nightlife.
