The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) has officially delivered more than 50 billion cubic metres (bcm) of Azerbaijani natural gas to Europe, marking a major energy milestone. On 1 September, the pipeline registered a high-volume flow of over 366 million kWh at its Kipoi exit point in Greece—underscoring steady demand from European buyers ahead of winter.
TAP runs through Greece and Albania and under the Adriatic Sea to southern Italy, forming a vital part of the EU’s strategy to diversify gas sources and reduce reliance on Russian imports.
Albania, in particular, has emerged as a strategic transit country in this equation, while Italy and Greece continue to benefit from its stable flow.
For the Adria region, TAP’s success reinforces the region’s growing geostrategic value in European energy security. With future green transition plans on the horizon, the region’s infrastructure—from pipelines to renewables—will only become more essential.
