Saša Mujović Elected Mayor of Podgorica

New Podgorica leadership formed without former allies

The Assembly of Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital, has elected Saša Mujović, a member of the Europe Now Movement and the current Minister of Energy, as the new mayor.

The coalition forming the new city administration includes the Europe Now Movement, Democrats, the “For the Future of Podgorica” list, and the Podgorica Movement (PzPG). The PzPG, closely aligned with Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović, reached an agreement after two formal meetings to align with the ruling parties at the national level, namely the Europe Now Movement, Democrats, and the “For the Future of Podgorica” list.

The coalition notably excludes the Civic Movement URA, led by former Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, despite their joint participation in the recent elections. This development highlights the shifting dynamics within Podgorica’s political landscape.
