Novo Mesto Plant to Produce Electric Renault Twingo

Renault is set to commence production of a new, affordable electric Twingo model at its Revoz plant in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, with a formal memorandum of understanding expected to be signed on Wednesday

French automotive giant Renault is set to start the production of a more affordable electric version of its Twingo model at the Novo Mesto assembly plant, Revoz, in Slovenia, as reported by Slovenian media. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) for this significant initiative is expected to be signed on Wednesday, providing the formal foundation for this new production line.

The Revoz plant, a key unit of Renault in Slovenia, is poised to embark on this project, with the MoU setting the stage for the production of the electric Twingo. Details of Renault’s investment will be disclosed during the signing ceremony, according to public broadcaster RTV.

Earlier this year, reports indicated that Renault would commence engineering work on the electric Twingo in April, with mass production slated to begin in 2026 at the Novo Mesto facility. The vehicle’s basic design was completed in March, with Renault’s subsidiary Ampere handling supplier selection, prototype design, and production adjustments.

Last year, the Revoz plant produced 68,000 vehicles, including the Clio, Twingo, and electric Smart Forfour models, a decrease from the previous year’s 96,000 units. This new project underscores Renault’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup and leveraging the capabilities of the Novo Mesto plant to meet growing demand in the electric vehicle market.
