New Council of European Business Associations and Chambers Launched in Serbia

European business associations and bilateral chambers have united to form the Council of European Business Associations and Chambers in Serbia (CEBAC), marking a significant stride in fostering collaboration and advocating for shared economic interests in the region

In a significant move to bolster European economic interests in Serbia, European business associations and bilateral chambers have united to establish the Council of European Business Associations and Chambers in Serbia (CEBAC). The founding memorandum was signed today, marking a new era of collaboration and synergy for the European business sector in the region. This newly formed body aims to define shared interests and serve as a platform for future initiatives and activities.

The signing ceremony was attended by the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, and ambassadors from the member countries, all endorsing the initiative. They highlighted the importance of strengthening “Team Europe” and advocating for shared economic interests in Serbia. CEBAC’s primary objective is to enhance the legal, institutional, and competitive business framework, benefiting both internationally and locally capitalized companies operating within Serbia.

Furthermore, the Council aims to improve trade relations between European countries and Serbia, ensuring trade is not one-directional. With over 5,000 European-capital companies creating more than 200,000 jobs in Serbia, and European countries being key trading partners, CEBAC is poised to play a pivotal role in bolstering economic ties.

The founding members of the Council include prominent business groups such as the Belgian-Serbian Business Association, Confindustria Serbia, and the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, among others. CEBAC adopts an inclusive approach, welcoming new foreign or bilateral organizations representing European business interests in Serbia.
