Montenegro’s Yacht Registry Booms with International Ownership

Montenegro emerges as a global maritime hub with 494 yachts registered

Montenegro’s yacht registry continues to attract global owners, with vessels from 49 countries now sailing under its flag, reflecting the country’s growing maritime prominence.

Montenegro’s yacht registry has experienced remarkable growth, with 494 vessels registered as of 1 October 2024—an increase of 80 yachts from the previous year. Notably, citizens and companies from 49 nations have entrusted Montenegro with the flag, among them prominent owners from Serbia, Russia, the United States, Switzerland, Italy, and even exotic locales such as the Seychelles and the Marshall Islands.

Serbia leads with 149 yachts, followed by Russia (125) and Montenegro (69). The surge in registrations also highlights the country’s appeal to international investors, with 402 yachts owned by individuals and 92 by corporate entities. Among the latter, SAIL SERVICE INC. stands out with seven vessels, while BLL AQUA DOO follows with four.

This growth reflects Montenegro’s positioning as a prime maritime hub, attracting both regional and global business elites and securing its place on the international maritime map.
