Hotel Igalo Sold for €11 Million Amid Worker Concerns

Mismanagement by Vektra Boka’s board leaves workers and creditors out of pocket after controversial sale of iconic hotel

In a tense atmosphere, Hotel Igalo, once a prized asset of Vektra Boka, was sold at a public auction for €11.3 million, well below its initial valuation of €18.85 million.

The buyer, Herceg Novi-based company Herc Gradnja, acquired the hotel following a court ruling in favour of the Acović family.

However, the sale has sparked outrage among former workers of Vektra Boka, who accuse the company’s leadership of negligence.

Vojo Miljanić, the former president of the workers’ union, and minority shareholder Danilo Matijašević are among those voicing their frustration.

They argue that Vektra’s board and the majority owner, Vektra Montenegro, failed to address workers’ claims over the past six months.

Notably, Matijašević criticizes the board for prioritizing hefty salaries—ranging from €2,400 to €2,800 per month—while neglecting the financial interests of the company’s workforce and creditors.

As a result, workers are unlikely to recover their dues from the sale, highlighting ongoing issues of corporate mismanagement.
