Fliqa Named Slovenian Startup of the Year

Fliqa Payments, a fintech firm with innovative banking solutions, has been named Slovenian Startup of the Year

Fintech firm Fliqa Payments, which already boasts two innovative products on the market, has been named Slovenian Startup of the Year, an accolade bestowed by peers from the startup community.

Fliqa offers seamless one-click transactions with merchants directly from the user’s bank account, eliminating the need for a credit card. “This is an alternative to card transactions named pay-by-bank,” explained co-founder Nina Strajnar to POP TV after receiving the award on 18 June.

Their other groundbreaking solution is a platform enabling merchants to assess a customer’s credit risk in real time. “Using advanced algorithms, we process specific data when you are taking out a loan, so you don’t need to provide bank or payroll statements. All you need is to consent, pick your bank, and the algorithm automatically calculates your credit score,” Strajnar elaborated.

“Now we are targeting the Middle East, Switzerland, and other global markets,” Strajnar added.

With a team of ten employees, mostly software developers and compliance specialists, Fliqa has focused on Europe, establishing partnerships with several banks

Fliqa has received funding from Slovenian IT firm SRC and has partnered with Dutch fintech firm IbanXS and Slovenian payment processor Bankart. According to the initiative Startup Slovenija, the aim of selecting the best startup of the year is to promote technological entrepreneurship, contribute to the transition to a knowledge-based society, and foster high value-added jobs.
