Slovenian ski jumping star Domen Prevc has officially secured his first overall Ski Jumping World Cup title, clinching the prestigious Crystal Globe with seven events still remaining in the season. The 26-year-old sealed the title despite being disqualified at the 6 March event in Lahti due to skis that were slightly over the permitted length. Even without scoring points, his commanding 721-point lead over Japan’s Ryoyu Kobayashi proved insurmountable.
With the victory, Prevc completes a rare “grand slam” in ski jumping, holding all five major titles in a single season.
Alongside the overall World Cup crown, he is also the reigning world champion in both ski jumping and ski flying, winner of the Four Hills Tournament, and an Olympic gold medallist. The last athlete to achieve this feat was Finnish legend Matti Nykänen in the 1980s.
Prevc’s historic season also coincides with success in his own family. His younger sister Nika Prevc recently secured her 16th victory of the season and claimed her third consecutive Crystal Globe, marking the first time three siblings from the same family have won overall World Cup titles in the sport.
