Nine doctors from across Central and Eastern Europe have been recognised for their research at the 12th annual International Medis Awards for Medical Research. The winners were selected from 243 submissions from researchers across 11 countries, highlighting significant contributions to medical science and healthcare.
The awards are organised by Medis, whose founder Tone Strnad emphasised the importance of doctors and pharmacists who combine clinical work with scientific research.
He noted that such studies play a crucial role in advancing medicine and creating the foundations for future breakthroughs.
Among this year’s winners were researchers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and the Czech Republic, while three scientists from Slovenia were also among the finalists. The awards honour achievements across fields such as dermatology, neurology, paediatrics, pharmaceuticals and rheumatology.
