Fortis Energy and PowerChina Partner on Major Renewable Energy Projects in SE

Fortis Energy, along with its Serbian subsidiary Construction DOO Beograd, has entered into a framework agreement with PowerChina International Group Limited to jointly invest in renewable energy projects

The collaboration focuses on developing wind and solar power projects in Serbia and the wider region, marking a significant expansion in Fortis Energy’s renewable energy portfolio.

Headquartered in Belgrade, Fortis Energy acts as the Eastern European hub for its parent company in Turkey, managing operations across several countries including Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro

The company is currently advancing several major projects in Serbia, including the development of 509 MW of wind farms and 387 MWp of solar power projects. Additionally, Fortis has acquired two biogas power plants in Pančevo, Serbia.

The projects under the new agreement, which total over 850 MW in capacity, are expected to play a crucial role in the region’s shift to a low-carbon economy. Fortis Energy anticipates that these developments will not only enhance the region’s energy mix but also create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and deliver clean energy to millions of people.

PowerChina, which has been active in the Serbian market since 2021, continues to solidify its presence in Europe’s renewable energy sector through this partnership.
