BiH and Kosovo Offer Cheapest Electricity in the Region

Household electricity in Bosnia and Herzegovina is among the cheapest in both the region and Europe as a whole

In the first half of last year, the most affordable electricity in the region was found in Kosovo, where households paid 6.7 cents per kilowatt-hour, Eurostat reports. Turkey followed with a cost of 8.4 cents per kilowatt-hour, Bosnia and Herzegovina at 8.7 cents, and both Serbia and Montenegro at 9.6 cents each.

North Macedonia had the region’s highest electricity prices at 10.5 EUR for 100 kilowatt-hours, with Albania slightly lower at 10.1 euros.

Currently, North Macedonia is conducting a public call by the government to select a universal electricity supplier for households and small consumers for the next five years.

Austrian company EVN Home, Greek EDS, and several other companies have indicated their participation in the upcoming auction.
