Serbia Grants Montenegro Access to E-Invoicing Platform at No Cost

In a gesture of regional cooperation, Serbia has provided Montenegro with complimentary access to its e-invoicing platform for businesses and entrepreneurs. This move was formalised in an agreement signed between the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Siniša Mali, and his Montenegrin counterpart, Aleksandar Damjanović.

Following Montenegro’s expression of interest in April, recognising the positive impacts the platform had in Serbia, both nations agreed that Serbia would assist Montenegro in adopting the system. This collaboration aims to bolster Montenegro’s fiscal stability.

Mali underscored the platform’s efficiency and its role in simplifying business processes, ensuring legal compliance, and enhancing invoice storage. He also highlighted the system’s potential to fast-track VAT refunds, a significant demand of businesses, adding that Serbia’s system has already processed over 103 million e-invoices.

Currently, Serbia’s e-invoicing platform caters to 10,786 public entities and over 211,000 businesses.

Expressing his gratitude, Damjanović asserted that this integration would not only stimulate Montenegro’s economic activities but also streamline goods and financial flows, tackle shadow economy issues, and alleviate VAT refund challenges for Montenegrin firms.
