The Slovenian branch of DHL, one of the world’s largest logistics and courier companies, has inaugurated a cutting-edge logistics centre in the vicinity of Ljubljana Airport. The €21 million facility spans 8,400 square metres and features an advanced automated sorting system capable of processing up to 3,500 parcels per hour. Built to replace the nearly two-decade-old existing centre, the new complex underscores DHL’s commitment to supporting Slovenia’s expanding trade flows driven by digitalisation and globalisation.
Located in Brnik, north of Ljubljana, the centre boasts 44 van loading ramps, 14 lorry ramps, and eight aircraft container positions, positioning it as a strategic hub for both domestic and international operations.
The facility, which employs 170 staff members, is designed with future growth in mind and aligns with DHL’s global sustainability vision to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Equipped with a solar power plant and smart energy systems, the building reflects the company’s focus on innovation and environmental responsibility.
At the inauguration, Deputy Prime Minister Matej Arčon praised DHL Express Slovenija as a key contributor to the national economy, calling it a “role model in its industry.” The investment not only reinforces DHL’s leadership in the Slovenian logistics sector but also advances the country’s ambitions to become a vital node in regional and global trade networks.
