Schott Pharma Launches Major Ampoule Plant in Serbia

As rivals shut down, Schott doubles down on Europe’s pharmaceutical future—from the heart of Serbia

German company Schott Pharma announced it had opened a new production facility in Jagodina, Serbia, stating the plant would become the largest manufacturer of ampoules in Europe.

The firm reported that construction began in December 2023 and that they planned to employ 180 people by year’s end.

Executives said the investment would enhance their competitiveness in the injectable drug packaging market and secure supply chains amid rising global tariffs.

Schott Pharma’s CEO, Andreas Reisse, noted that while other European ampoule producers were shutting down, his company was offering regional customers a stable, long-term solution.

The company, headquartered in Mainz and active on 17 sites across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, said it would integrate local skilled workers into its global network.

Denis Nikitin, the director of the Jagodina plant, stated that the collaboration between Serbian workers and European teams, alongside advanced equipment, would ensure reliable, high-quality output.
