Montenegro Aligns Organic Production with EU Standards

Strengthening consumer trust through EU-aligned organic standards

Montenegro, as an EU candidate country, is harmonizing its organic production laws with EU Regulation 2018/848, which came into effect on 1 January 2022.

The regulation introduced stricter control systems to strengthen consumer trust and ensure all organic products sold in the EU adhere to the same high standards.

This alignment underscores Montenegro’s commitment to meeting EU requirements and boosting its credibility as a supplier of quality organic goods. By adopting these rigorous standards, the country is positioning itself as a reliable partner in the European agricultural market, advancing its integration into the EU.
