Flying Tiger Takes Flight in the Balkans

Danish design meets Balkan ambition: 50 stores, 400 jobs, and one stylish retail revolution

In a move set to reshape the region’s retail landscape, Danish variety store chain Flying Tiger Copenhagen is partnering with Southeast Europe’s retail powerhouse BALFIN Group to open 50 stores across the Western Balkans by 2029.

The first shop is slated for Skopje in October 2025, marking the brand’s debut in North Macedonia, followed by rollouts in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, and Montenegro.

Hot on the heels of its Turkish expansion in 2024, this cross-border collaboration aims to fuse Scandinavian creativity with local consumer enthusiasm for quirky, affordable home and lifestyle products.

The partnership is more than just commercial—it promises real socio-economic impact, with 400 new jobs planned across five nations.

Founded in 1995, Flying Tiger now boasts over 1,000 stores in 38 countries, offering everything from home décor to party supplies—now with a Balkan twist.
