European Commission Recommends Opening EU Accession Negotiations with BiH

The European Commission has taken a pivotal step in endorsing Bosnia and Herzegovina's journey towards European Union membership by recommending the commencement of accession negotiations

The European Commission (EC) has recommended the initiation of European Union (EU) accession negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina. In a statement released by the Commission, it was highlighted that Bosnia and Herzegovina has achieved the necessary level of alignment with EU membership criteria, based on the progress made since 2022, the year in which the country was granted candidate status.

The Commission’s statement read, “Consequently, the Commission recommends to the Council to open accession negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
