Croatia Airlines Soars Back with Fleet Renewal and Passenger Surge

New jets, new routes, and a strong Q2 lift Croatia’s national carrier toward a sustainable flight path

Croatia Airlines is charting a promising course through 2025, recording a 5% year-on-year rise in passengers during the first half of the year, as the airline expands both its fleet and route network.

While still navigating post-pandemic turbulence—with a €21.2m operating loss—the second quarter marked a clear upswing, slashing losses and boosting EBITDA to €8.2m.

At the heart of the recovery is the largest fleet renewal in the company’s history. Five brand-new Airbus A220 aircraft are already in service, with two more expected by year’s end.

The new jets have opened five international routes from Zagreb and supported an 18% capacity increase for the summer season.

Challenges remain—supply chain issues and cost pressures from inflation and staffing—but Croatia Airlines is banking on efficiency, sustainability, and a more connected Adriatic region to keep its ascent steady.
