Bosnia Faces Ongoing Wildfire Risk

EU issues red alert as heat recedes but fire threat lingers

While the recent cold front brought relief to much of the Western Balkans, Bosnia and Herzegovina remains under high alert for wildfires, especially in Herzegovina and central highland regions. 

The EU’s Civil Protection agency (DG ECHO) issued warnings on 28 July citing severe drought, dry winds, and limited firefighting capacity

Bosnia has already seen several emergency deployments this season, with satellite data showing fire activity well above average. 

As climate volatility deepens, the country’s forest and tourism zones are increasingly at risk.
