The acclaimed Agelast podcast, led by Serbian journalist Galeb Nikačević, has been awarded the 2024 Champion of Regional Cooperation Dr Erhard Busek Award by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC).
The honour, announced in Tirana on 15 June, celebrates Agelast’s remarkable role in fostering dialogue, understanding, and cultural exchange across Southeast Europe.
RCC Secretary General Amer Kapetanović said that regional cooperation was not built only in meeting rooms or through treaties, but also in people’s minds, and he praised Agelast for creating a space where voices from across the region were heard with respect.
Selected by a panel of international experts, Agelast received €10,000 from Austria’s foreign ministry. Nikačević described the award as “a relay we proudly carry and hope to pass on,” reaffirming the podcast’s mission to connect and inspire.
Previous laureates include Sarajevo Film Festival and EXIT festival, but this year’s winner underscores how digital platforms can unite a fragmented region.
