The decision was formalized through a decree signed by Osmani following consultations with political parties and the Central Election Commission.
According to Bekim Kupina, a political adviser to President Osmani, the date was selected as “the optimal date that balances the preferences of all difficult parties.” The presidency emphasized the importance of beginning the election campaign after 7 January, once the winter holidays have concluded.
Additionally, Osmani has extended an invitation to the European Union to send a mission for a preliminary assessment, and she plans to request EU election observers closer to the election date.
This move underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
