For the first time in Serbia, an innovative system for heating orchards with warm air has been implemented near Zrenjanin, aiming to protect crops from frost. The technology, already used in more developed agricultural markets, is designed to prevent damage during critical periods when sudden temperature drops can significantly impact yields.
The system works by circulating warm air through orchards, helping to maintain temperatures above freezing and reduce the risk of crop loss.
This is particularly important in the context of increasingly volatile weather patterns, which have posed growing challenges for fruit producers across the region.
Experts see the introduction of such solutions as a key step toward modernising Serbia’s agricultural sector and improving resilience to climate-related risks. If widely adopted, the technology could help stabilise production, reduce losses and enhance the competitiveness of domestic agriculture in the long term.
