Historic Hotel Continental Joins Accor Group

Croatia’s renowned Hotel Continental in Rijeka is set to become part of Accor’s distinguished Handwritten Collection

This move marks a significant boost for Rijeka’s tourism landscape, positioning the city as a key international destination for discerning travelers.

At a formal signing ceremony, executives from Jadran Hotels Rijeka and Accor sealed the deal to bring Croatia’s first Handwritten Collection hotel to life. 

With a storied history spanning more than 135 years, Hotel Continental will undergo extensive renovations to blend its timeless charm with the warm, personalized touch of Accor’s unique brand.

The hotel’s reopening, anticipated by mid-2026, promises an elegant fusion of history and modernity, catering to travelers in search of one-of-a-kind, memorable experiences. 

Kristian Šustar, CEO and board member of Jadran Hotels Rijeka, and Frank Reul, Accor’s Vice President for Development in Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Italy, and Greece, heralded the partnership as a transformative step for Rijeka’s hospitality sector.
