Throughout more than a century of excellence, KONČAR has transformed from a historical symbol of industrial strength into a technology leader driving the future of energy on a global scale. Founded in 1921, the Croatian company built the backbone of regional infrastructure and today operates in more than 130 markets worldwide. As a trusted European partner in the green transition, it stands as one of the most compelling examples of how an industrial legacy can evolve into a technology-driven future.

Its competitiveness is especially visible in the European Union, where KONČAR has secured its place among the most relevant manufacturers advancing renewable energy goals. The acquisition of the Dalekovod Group marked a decisive step forward, creating powerful synergies between two export- oriented pioneers that now play leading roles in strategic EU energy projects. Through numerous acquisitions in power engineering and digital solutions in recent years, KONČAR has secured key competencies and access to new markets, driving significant organic and inorganic growth.

Investing in the future

KONČAR’s transformation has been underpinned by consistent investments. Over the past five years, KONČAR has channeled more than €85 million into new equipment, expanded production and research capacity, boosted energy efficiency, and supported employee development. The momentum continues: in the first half of 2025 alone, capital expenditure reached €34 million, signaling another strong cycle of expansion and growth.

Record Numbers, Year After Year

The results speak for themselves. For five consecutive years, KONČAR has delivered record-breaking performance across all key business metrics. In 2024, consolidated revenues from products and services surpassed €1 billion, up 18.1% on the previous year. The backlog soared past €2 billion by year’s end — 43% higher than at the start of the year — driven by €1.67 billion in order intake. Net profit almost doubled, reaching €163.3 million.

The upward curve has extended into 2025. In the first half of the year, KONČAR generated revenues of €636.8 million, a 33% increase compared to the same period of record-breaking 2024. Exports continue to dominate, accounting for over 71% of sales, with growth particularly strong in the EU, U.S., and Australian markets. Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands remain core partners, while new flagship projects in Sweden and Norway highlight KONČAR’s expanding strategic footprint. By mid-2025, KONČAR’s backlog reached a record €2.3 billion — an important vote of confidence from global markets.

Leading the Green Transition

Behind these figures stands a community of more than 5,600 employees, including over 50 PhD holders, whose expertise and custom-made solutions drive KONČAR’s success. Few industrial stories can match the scale: nearly half a million transformers of different types and capacities have left KONČAR’s factories for over 100 countries, making them Croatia’s most widely distributed industrial export.

Today, these are predominantly sustainable transformers designed to minimize environmental impact and tailored to specific client needs. In renewable energy, KONČAR has built or modernized more than 400 hydropower plants worldwide and in recent years has added over ten large solar power plants to its portfolio. It is also shaping the future of sustainable mobility, with battery-powered trains and charging infrastructure representing a bold leap toward decarbonized urban transport. The company sees this as the start of a new era — one that will generate fresh technological breakthroughs and new export success stories.

Pioneering Cybersecurity

Energy and mobility may be KONČAR’s foundations, but the company is also rapidly emerging as a digital innovator. Among its standout achievements is PROZA Station, a next-generation SCADA system for the automated management of energy systems, solar plants, data centers, and other complex infrastructure. Built on more than four decades of software expertise, it is already in use across power, mobility, water, and transport networks.

In 2023, KONČAR’s commitment to excellence was recognized globally: TÜV NORD Adriatic awarded PROZA Station the world’s first IEC 62351 cybersecurity certificate for a SCADA solution, establishing the company as a pioneer in critical infrastructure protection.

Recognition has come from beyond the industry too. UNESCO selected KONČAR as Croatia’s sole official partner for its global campaign celebrating World Engineering Day 2025 — a testament to the company’s enduring spirit of innovation and leadership.
